Homoeocerus unipunctatus 두점배허리노린재

Form: The body length is 12~15mm.  The body colors are light brown or yellowish brown and  they are brown little spots are scatter. The head is small and the crown of the head has vaguely black  2 horizontal stripe. Feelers are reddish brown but the end joint are dark. The half scab wing is reaching almost to the stomach and in the center there are clear black pattern. With the lower part and legs are  light yellowish brown. Edge of the stomach joint are widely to extend and the front wings’ outside edge are  overhang. Stomach joint’s center and side edge’s center has black pattern.

Other characters  :  They gather a lot in kudzu and  they can gather in   leguminous plant and they appear in april to october.

Polistes japonicus japonicus 꼬마쌍살벌

Form : The body length is about 20~25mm. Femals are black and face and  the crown of the head’ s 2 pattern is yellowish brown. The wing is reddish brown and the legs are yellowish brown or black.  Each stomach joint’s back rim and the first joint to the second joint are shape of a bow.

Other characters  :  the larva of cabbage butterfly etc predation the larva is not common. In the  branches, rocks, and  underground hole etc  make the house

Coccinella septempunctata Linne 칠성무당벌레

Form: The length of the body is 5~8.5mm. The feelers, head and the front chest is black. The elytron is light brown and there are seven spots on it. The mark is big and obvious. One of them is on the back part of the center chest and the others are three pairs and each pair is symmetry form.

Other characters: The caterpillar and imago eat many kinds of aphids. Coccinella septempunctata Linne is the most common ladybug in Korea. Especially, the one larva eat about 4000 aphids so they are one of the beneficial insects. In 2~3 weeks, the caterpillar becomes imago. You can see the imagos in early spring time to November, especially in June. They inhabit grass of fields. Coccinella septempunctata Linne lives in Asia including Korea, the whole Europe and the north Africa.

Macrochlaenites costiger 줄먼지벌레

Form: The length of the body is 22~23mm. The body color is black and the back is bronzed color or glossy brown. The feelers and the legs is light brown reddish brown. The end of the thigh’s joint and ankle antenna is black.   

Other characters: The imagos hide under the rocks or fallen leaves during the day and then be active in the night because they are nocturnal dustmites. Macrochlaenites costiger are carnivorous insects, so they eat other insects. The caterpillar grows during summer. This insects live in Korea, Japan, Taiwan and so on.

Crocothemis servilia servilia 고추잠자리

Form: The length of stomach is 27~32mm and that of the back wings is 32~36mm. The male is whole red and the female is bright brown. There is a black fine line on the stomach’s center. The piping pattern of the male is brown and that of the female is lemon yellow. The caterpillar has big and projected compound eyes. The bristae of the bottom lip has 14~16 pairs. There is no back prickle and the side prickle is around the eighth~nineth joint.  

Other characters: The larva inhabits ponds that have many water plants. Except that area, Crocothemis servilia servilias live widely. The imago appears for April ~ October. This dragonflies distribute in Korea, Japan, China and so on.

Korean Dendropanax Dendropanax morbifera H.Lev. Araliaceae황칠나무

Form : Evergreen broad-leaved arboreous tree

Characteristic : which has large stem is 15m long. green bough is green, with no hair, polish. Leaves are alternate, 10~20cm long, oval or ovate shaped, without sawtooth, cracked in 3~5 pieces, both side has no hair. Flower bloom in June, which is white, bisexual flower. Fruit is 7~10mm long, oval shaped, ripen in October with black. Its origin is Korea

Where you can see this species at Dongbaekdongsan  : In Dongbaekdongsan, can be found in the forest, edge of forest, near the trail. Its leave is 2 type, one is oval-shaped, the other is trident shaped.

Longleaf Elaeagnus Elaeagnus macrophylla Thunb. Elaeagnaceae보리밥나무

Form : Evergreen broad-leaved tendril (vine) shrub

Characteristic : The leaf is alternate, round, wide ovalness or wide elliptical, dull-head or sharp-head, round-bottom or sharp-bottom, silver scale hair on backside and disappeared later, green. Fruit is elliptical, length of 1.5-1.7cm, diameter of 5-6cm, white scale hair, ripened in next March-May. Flower bloom un September~November. The young branch has yellow-white and brown scale hair. The length is 2~3m. Its origin is Korea

Where you can see this species at Dongbaekdongsan : In Dongbaekdongsan, can be found in edge of forest. The leaf has no sawtooth, surface is glossy. The backside of leaf is little glossy like cuspidata’s backside of leaves.

Glabrous Elaeagnus Elaeagnus glabra Thunb. Elaeagnaceae보리장나무

Form : Evergreen broad-leaved tendril (vine) shrub

Characteristc : The leaf is in opposite, thick, length 4~8cm, width 2.5~3.5cm, oval shape or wide oval shape, sharp head rounded leaf-base. brown scale hair is dense , edge is flat or curved in wave shape. The flower is bloomed in October~December, leaf axil, go down. The fruit is drupe, long oval shape, has long red-brown scale hair, ripen in next year April~May in red. The stem is climbing habit, young branch has brown scale hair, branches out long but don’t coiled. The length is 3m. Its origin is Korea

Where you can see this species at Dongbaekdongsan : In Dongbaekdongsan, can be found in forest’s brim and in trail with light. It looks like Longleaf Elaeagnus but leaf is more thin

Japanese Ivy (Hedera rhombea Bean)송악

Form : Evergreen broad-leaved tendril plant.

 

 

Characteristic : Leaves are alternate, thick, like leather and shiny dark green color. leave’s shape likes triangle. Fruit is drupe, 8~10mm diameter, ripen in April to May to black. Flower is bisexual and a number of flower, which in end of top of flower stalk makes umbrella like inflorescence. Some kind of its root is shallow rooted which is radicated near surface of the earth. It’s origin is Korea, and dedicated in Japan, Taiwan and China.

 

 

Where you can see this species at Dongbaekdongsan: In Dongbaekdongsan, can be found which is grown in arboreous tree of edge of forest or rock

Chinese Elm (Ulmus parvifolia Jacq.) 참느릅나무

Form : Deciduous leaves and a tall tree

Characteristic: Leaves are cross each other. It is thick and reversed-oval or oval or long oval or lanceolate. its length is 3~5centimeters. Hair isn’t in two sides and it has shine on the surface. A nut is a thin film of peel shape and winged key-fruit . A nut is oval and its length 8~11millimeters. A nut don’t have hair and grows ripe in October. A bisexual and a unisexual flower bloom in September. Flower’s color is yellowish brown a stamen is 4~5 and anther is purplish-yellow. A tree’s height is 10meters. Trunk stand erect. Hair is on the twig. The bark of a tree is red brown and thick. Also, the barks splits to pieces. The place of origin is Korea. And, it is distributed in Japan and China.

Where you can see this species at Dongbaekdongsan : It makes a community because of rainfall in pastureland in Dongbaekdongsan. Also, it can be seen in  ‘Meonmulkkak‘ surrounding wetland and forest edge.
