Jeju Gotjawal

Indolestes gracilis peregrinus 가는실잠자리

by on Dec.18, 2010, under insects

Form: They are 28~32mm sized. They go through the season ‘winter’ in brown, but in spring when they prepare mating they become blue. In other  words, they have a protective coloration in winter and a nuptial coloration  in spring.

Other characters: Most of them live in forests. They appear from April to November. They  act as an imago like “Sympecma paedisca (Brauer)”, and they experience  “incomplete metamorphosis“. In Dongbaekdongsan(Gotzawal in Jeju), you  can see them at the wetland “Meonmulkak”‘s surface. Damselflies  including this dragonfly tend to hunt near water, so as soon as you arrive  in  Meonmulkak, you can see them immediately.
