Form : Evergreen broad-leaved arboreous tree


Leaves are crossed out, long oval shape oval shape or long egg  shape. It’s length is 7~13cm, the edge is round and smooth but some has a sawtooth. The surface is lustrous dark green and the back is yellow green. When is was young, it is covered with brown far but since it grows up it disappear. The fruit is hemisphere and oval nut is 2cm, taste bitter, ripen on October. Both male and female flowers bloom at one stump. The trunk is thick, grows straight and also has lots of branch s and dense leaves. Woods are ruddy and hard. The bark of a tree is dark brown and is peels a little. The place of origin is Korea.

It mainly grows up over 400m. We can barely see young this tree at near walk enterance. Leave’s surface is lustrous dark green. Different from other thorny plant in Dongbaekdongsan.  Sometimes, leaves hace sawtooth, but most are smooth
