Quercus gilva Blume(Red bark Oak) 개가시나무

Form : Evergreen broad-leaved arboreous tree

Characteristic :

 The leaf has upside down spear shape which is oppose to blume and the length is 5~12cm. The width is 2~3.5cm. It  has sharp sawtooth at upperleaf. And front of the leaf has no fur, hack of the leaf has yellowish brown fur closely covered. A nut which has fur and ripen on november is wide oval or egg shape oval, the length is 14~18mm. This monoecism flowers blossom on April. The trunk`s height is 20m and the bark of a tree has dark brown color, it peel off a little. Small branch covers with yellowish brown fur. The place of origin is Korea, China, Japan and Taiwan.

Where you can see this species at Dongbaekdongsan  :

It is rare plants as second extinct crisis plants. It is obsereved at a restricted area in Dongbaekdongsan. When we walk through a path up a mountain, we can see that an information signboard is set up. Leaf is pointed vertically and has sawtooth at the edge. There is yellowish brown star shape fur tightly.
