Japanese tree frog (Hyla japonica) (청개구리)

Characteristics : It is usually green on the back, and has deep green or dark brown irregular patterns in yellowish green background. A male has a big weeping pocket in the vicinity of pharynx but female doesn’t. The trunk is flat and slim. The size of an adult is about 2.5~4cm both in female and male. Suction cups are developed on toes.

Ecology : It lives in flat lands, shrub or on leaves except in breeding season. From April to July, it lays 400~800 eggs in pond, valley, pool and many places, and the eggs are divided to 20~30 in one place. The eggs are deep yellowish brown and the lower part of the eggs called vegetal pole is light colored.

Where you can see this species at Dongbaekdongsan : a pond, wetland or on the trees around wetland. You can easily find adults crying at a wetland around Monmulkak(먼물깍) especially in summer evening.
