Ramsar sites

Dongbaekdongsan located in Jochuneup seonjeul-li is enrolled on the list of Ramsar.

 The ministry of environment says that the Dongbaekdongsan and Eungok are newly enrolled in the Ramsar sites.

 Ramsar convention indicates “Ramsar” to the invaluable marsy lands which have a wide range of organisms or have unique geological features.

 As of 2011, 29 sites in 160 countries is enrolled in Ramsar sites. Because our two sites have been enrolled, the Ramsar in South korea is 16 sites.

 Dongbaekdonsan is located in Gotjawal which preserves its origin of ecosystem. It has origin from of ancient pasture, natural cave, ponds and many things.

 Especially, it involves a wide variety of organisms which include hawk(endangered species level 1), 6 species enrolled in natural monument, Chinese Isoetes japonica(IUCN red list), and Jeju Botrychium ternatum.

 Because Gotjawal larva has high water permeability, it is resorvoir for jeju’s underwater and it is unique form in South Korea.

 The ministry of environment plans to trengthen the regular examination and monitoring on Dongbaekdongsan

 The official of environment says it is important fact that Our two sites are envolved in Ramsar and he also commented that much interests are needed for the popularization of Our two sites.
