On March 13th, 2nd grade students went to the pasture near the Dongbaekdongsan.

Before exploring the Dongbaekdongsan, students had planned their goal of one-year exploration and decided to divide their group into 6.

In Dongbaekdongsan, students observed organisms living in ponds and specified what kind of organisms they are.

 2. The second exploration(10.4.17)

On march April 17th, 1st and 2nd grade students went to the Dongbaekdongsan.

On our exploration, teacher ‘Jeongsik Yang’ (Studying for the diversity of organisms in Jeju) helped us to observe the species in Dongbaekdongsan.

He taught  us features of  the Dongbaekdongsan and organisms living in there.

We are divided into 6 groups, amphibian, birds, insects, mushroom, reptile, and trees, and each group carried out not only thier group’s works but also observation of  organisms for example, insects.

The picture above is about observing the insects on the soil.

The two students are included in the group of  insects.

3.The third exploration (10.5.15)

On May 15th, Students went to the Meonmulkkak to perform their group’s work.

Although the humid weather, students performed thier works and observed organisms included in their theme.

4.The fourth exploration (10.5.29)

On May 29th, students went to the Meonmulkkak to perform their work and observe the insects in water.

Also, each group took pictures of them and drew shape of their topic organisms.

5.The fifth exploration (10.6.19)

On June 19th, Students went to the Dongbaekdongsan.

In Dongbaekdongsan, they performed their group’s works and observed the species included in their theme.

The group of bird also recorded the sounds of birds.

The picture above is about recording the bird’s sound by the group which studies birds and observation of group which studies insects.

6.The sixth exploration (10.7.25)

On July 25th, students went to the Dongbaekdonsan,  Meonmulkkak.

On the exploration, teacher Pyeongryeol Ko, a student of mushrooms, helped students to perform their works.

She, especially helped the group studying mushrooms a lot by explaning the species’ names and features.

Students had great time for asking the question about general people easily think wrong.

After the question time, the whole groups were divided by 2 parts and performed their works.

Although the weather was very bad, students performed their works very well.

The picture above is question time and observing plants which live near the Meonmulkkak.

7.The seventh exploration(10.8.8)

On August 8th, students went to the Dongbaekdongsan.

Students wore their uniform to show their cooperative activities.

While the exploration, the student of mushroom  ‘Pyeongryeol Ko’  helped us to observe species in Dongbaekdongsan and students performed their groups’ own works with her help. Picture above is taken before exploring the Dongbaekdongsan and the other is the picture of group of plants.

8.The eighth exploration(10.9.4)

On September 4th, students went to the Dongbaekdongsan.

In Dongbaekdongsan, they performed their group’s works and observed the species included in their theme.

On our exploration, teacher ‘Jeongsik Yang’ (Studying for the diversity of organisms in Jeju) helped us to observe diverse insects in Dongbaekdongsan.

Since the weather was nice that day, we could observe many species

Activities 2011

<Introduction>

1. The first exploration(2011.4.16)

On April 16th, students went to the pasture near the Dongbaekdongsan.

Before exploring the Dongbaekdongsan, students had planned their one-year exploration and decided to divide their group into 4.

The groups include one biology team, and three chemistry teams.

In Dongbaekdongsan, students observed organisms living in ponds and specified what kind of organisms they were.

Because this exploration was the first to the first grade students, students learned what Gotjawal is and what organisms are living in Dongbaekdongsan.

Students were mainly taught about what kinds of plants there are in Dongbaekdongsan (Camellia hill). Students are looking for acorns from the Quercus glauca Thunb – a kind of a beechtree.

They found lots of eggs of JEJU salamander. They were interested in this.

Students got to go deeper into the forest on this day.

Deeper in the forest, there were huge rocks, and there were also lots of plants growing on them.

2.The second exploration(2011.6.18)

On June 18th,students went to the dongbaekdongsan for the second time.

Students were divided into  four teams: birds,  mushrooms, furns, and plants. Teams  did not only study each themes but also observed the ecosystem.

Students found a frog and they were interested in this.

They are looking for the feathers and droppings of the birds f0r their study. It will enable us to identify what kind of birds are living in Dongbaekdongsan.

They are taking water and soil samples from the lake, which will be used in their studies.

Students  also found the snake’s  skin. It was  wonderful.

Teacher explained the skin.  It was  Red- Sided Water Snake’s skin.

It was about 1m long.

Since it was a wet day, students were able to find some snails and lots of mushrooms.

They took pictures of the mushrooms and took samples from some of them.

3. The Third exploration(2011.07.30)

When they walked the way, suddenly someone found the striking moth, and they took some pictures of it.

When they saw Gotjawal, they were surprised because It has changed a lot since the last month.

They discussed the radical change of Gotjawal.

When they saw the pond, Meonmulggak and talked about the green things - turned out it was 순채 (a watershield plant) covering the surface of the pond.

They took water samples for their team studies from several ponds including Meonmulggak in Dongbaekdongsan.

Activities 2012

<Introduction>

1. The first exploration(2012.3.24)

In 2012, We went to go to gotjawal.  It was the first time for freshman to go to Gotjawal. Also, Shin-sheong girl’s middle school students joined with us.

We found Korean salamander spawn heralding the beginning of the spring. It is separated two parts.

In Meonmulgak, there weren’t plants. But Next visit, It will be full of waterfield plant, bulrush, Nymphoides indicum.

3. The third exploration(2012.8.5)

After the final exam was over, we went to Dongbaekdongsan. Three months have passed since the last visit.

The studies about Gotjawal have been progressed and we decided to launch a new project, making QR codes for many creatures living there.

Soon, there will be a WCC in jeju and we thought we could promote Gotjawal to foreigners who may not be familiar with Gotjawal.

We took a pictures and find its position using GPS.

Meanwhile, there were a lot of 순채(Soonchae, a watershield plant) in Meonmulkkak.
